Explosion at biscuit factory in central Greece kills four, one missing

(MENAFN) A powerful explosion at a biscuit factory in Trikala, central Greece, killed four workers and left another missing early Monday, according to local reports.

The blast occurred at around 4 a.m. local time (0200 GMT) while 12 to 13 employees were on shift. Four charred bodies were recovered hours after the incident, and search efforts continue for the missing worker, reports said.

Six additional workers and a firefighter from the provincial firefighting team were hospitalized at Trikala General Hospital.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Witnesses reported that the blast was heard across multiple nearby villages and in the city center, highlighting its intensity.
